But Jude was not writing a culture-war footnote. He was invoking an ancient, apocalyptic framework shared by Second Temple Judaism and the early church—one that understood Sodom’s sin not merely as moral failure, but as a catastrophic violation of created boundaries between heaven and earth. When Jude is read in context, “strange flesh” does not mean socially deviant desire; it means non-human flesh.
