The Heavens Declare - the glory of God in creation; but only His Word reveals His nature and will.

Описание: Psalm 19 sings of the two ways by which God reveals Himself to mankind: 1) general revelation through His glorious creation, and 2) special revelation through His inspired, living Word. The sky both day and night is so awesome and evocative that the psalmist uses the word declare or celebrate to describe how it communicates God's glory. The vocals and musical instruments used in this psong are hardly eloquent and celestial enough to do justice to the psalm! The second stanza of this psong, following the psalmist's lyrics, focuses on the qualities and impact of God's Word: how its moral straightness, purity, etc, make our hearts rejoice, enlighten our eyes, etc. The final stanza is about applications: what the psalmist and psalm reader/singer/audience can resolve to do, such as resolving to clean up the words of our mouths and meditations of our hearts. Sinners have much to confess to God, whereas nature has much to declare of God's glory!

The heavens declare the glory of God;
and the firmament shows his handywork.
Day to day utter speech,
night to night show knowledge.
There is no speech nor language,
where their voice is not heard.
Their voice is gone out through all the earth,
and their words to the end of the world.
In them has he set a tabernacle for the sun,
as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber,
and rejoice as a strong man to run a race.
His going forth is from end of the heaven,
and his circuit to the ends of the heaven:
there's nothing hid from the heat thereof.
The heavens declare the glory of God.

Stanza 2
O the law of the LORD my God is perfect,
converting the soul:
the testimony of the LORD is sure,
making wise the simple.
The LORD's statutes are right, rejoicing the heart:
the commandment of the LORD is pure,
enlightening the eyes.
The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever:
his judgments are altogether righteous and true.
More to be desired than fine gold,
sweeter than honey and honeycomb.
By your Word is your servant warned:
keeping your Word is of great reward.
The heavens declare the glory of God.

Stanza 3
You cleanse me from secret faults, O my LORD.
Keep back your servant from presumptuous sins;
they've no dominion o'er me:
then shall I be upright,
and I shall be innocent
from the great transgression.
Let words of my mouth,
meditation of my heart
be acceptable in your sight,
O LORD, my strength and my redeemer.
As a bridegroom coming out of his chamber,
and rejoice as a strong man to run a race.
LORD, come forth and redeem your people.
Bring the new heaven and new earth.
Light and beauty shine from your holy face.
