Irish Stew & Soda Bread - St. Patrick's Day Special!

Описание: At St. Patrick's Day, everyone here enjoys some shamrock shakes and corned beef & cabbage. But corned beef & cabbage aren't really Irish, they're Irish American. So I want to make you a truly Irish dish, the quintessential Irish stew, that I learned how to make while my son did his freshman year in college in Ireland.

For this stew you'll need:
1/2 stick Buter
1/4 - 1/2 cup Flour
3 lbs. Stew Beef
1 Tbsp. Black Pepper
1 Tbsp. Hawaiian Salt
2 lbs Lamb Shank (or Mutton Chops if you can find them)
1 big bottle (22oz) Guiness
1 Onion
4 Carrots

To accompany the stew, I'm going to make a traditional Irish Soda Bread. For this you'll need:
4 cups Flour
1 tsp. Baking Soda
1 tsp. Salt
2 cups Buttermilk
And serve with a block of Kerrygold Butter or Kerrygold Dubliner Cheese

Finally, in Hawaii we serve our stew with rice, but in Ireland they always served their stew with potatoes. So I'm going to make Irish style mashed potatoes. For this you'll need:
8 Potatoes
1 Leek
1/2 stick Buter
Cream or Half & Half (until smooth)
Optional: Add 1 head of chopped Kale to turn this into Irish Colcannon
