On this last Sunday before Christmas, Pastor Jonah Haze presents a Biblical view of the birth of Christ. Contrary to what most of the world thinks, the Lord Jesus was actually born as the Bible describes. Many years before the event in Bethlehem, the prophet Isaiah foretold that He would be born of a virgin and that He would be called Immanuel, God with us. He was born with human flesh, yet was without sin Himself. The miracle is known as the Immaculate Conception, and refers to the work of the Holy Spirit in the life of Mary, who had never been with a man. Sadly, the Catholic church erroneously teaches that the miracle should be associated with the virgin Mary, that she was somehow the one born without sin.
That false doctrine is completely outrageous and a blasphemy to the Almighty God. Mary herself declared that she was not perfect and needed a savior in Luke chapter one. She was a flawed human being in need of forgiveness and, like all of the rest of humanity, would have been condemned by her own sins to eternal punishment, unless she repented and believed on the Lord Jesus Christ. She is not a co-redeemer with Christ, not the Queen of Heaven, and she certainly cannot save anyone by her so-called "immaculate heart." Jesus told us very plainly in John chapter 3, "Unless one is born again, he (or she) cannot enter the kingdom of God."
Here are the Bible verses Pastor Jonah uses in his sermon: Matthew 1:18-25; John 3:3; Luke 1:46-47; John 1:12; Acts 4:12; John 14:6; Romans 3:23: II Corinthians 5:21; Ephesians 2:8-9; Romans 5:8-9 and 10:9-10.
