This 8-minute guided yoga practice stimulates the vagus nerve, which carries signals from your muscles to your brain. The exercises here are designed to relax the muscles of the body and quiet the mind, so the vagus nerve can tell your brain that it is okay to rest and relax.
Yoga has 8 limbs — not just physical movement (asana). This guided practice draws on prāṇāyāma (breath control), pratyāhāra (withdrawal of the senses), and dhāraṇā (sustained attention), which all help to create the conditions for dhyāna (meditation).
00:00 Cyclic Sighing
00:30 Bhrāmarī prāṇāyāma (hummingbee breath)
02:50 Jathur Trataka
05:30 Relaxed diaphragmatic (abdominal) breathing
07:10 Sighing to relax the jaw
This practice is especially supportive if you’re feeling anxious, overstimulated, mentally overactive, or disconnected from your body — and it’s suitable for beginners.
