The goal of these warm ups is to get students thinking about tuning, and keep them relaxed in the wrists so that they can execute short shifts and potentially start vibrato. These warm ups were composed to be played sequentially but can be done out of order or with skips once students gain mastery of each exercise. The finger pattern is the same within each exercise, so after the exercise is mastered by everyone I will often just do 1-2 strings in each exercise.
Check it out on my TPT at this link: https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/P...

Violin/Viola - 3rd finger, slurs, double stops, I, II, and III position.

Bass - Slurs, double stops, I, II, and III position.
Also included:
Open Tuning Sequence
Closed Tuning Sequence
Chorale (with all chord tones shown)
D Major & G Major Scales (1 octave)
Quarter notes
Advantages of this method:
Builds independence in tuning
Starts vibrato
How to build a chord (Chorale)
Scaffolding built in to each exercise & between exercises.
Frequent tutti rests give time for teacher feedback/comment without pausing rehearsal.
The name Mosaic comes from the idea that each instrument family is working on a different concept (tessera) at any time but harmonically each family works together. Tesserae are collections of these individual parts that can be played on top of each other. In this warm up the differences between parts are minimal.
