The Severn Valley Railway Autumn Steam Gala 2025

Описание: During late September, the Severn Valley Railway held it's annual Autumn Steam Gala, it's first since the whole length of the line was reopened following the landslip at Mor Brook near Eardington.

To mark it's 60th anniversary, the railway would welcome the return of overnight running. This meant the line would be operating continuously for 60 hours between Friday and Sunday.

Futhermore, the railway would host some first time visitors to mark the occasion.

These included:

SR Merchant Navy class 35006 Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company from the Gloucestershire and Warwickshire Railways. Making one of it's last gala appearances before it's boilor ticket expires in November.

It was also the first time a Merchant Navy steam locomotive bas visited the SVR.

The other visiting locomotives were.

BR Standard Class 5MT Camelot from the Bluebell Railway.

Austerity NCB number 49 from the Tanfield Railway.

LMS 3F "Jinty" 47298 from the East Lancashire Railway.

These were then backed up by the home fleet locomotives.

They included:

GWR 14xx 1450 which was on auto train duties.

GWR Pannier tank 7714

GWR 78xx Manor class 7802 Bradley Manor.

BR Standard Class 5MT 75069

And making a welcome return after three years out was GWR 813.

The locomotive failed at the Spring gala in 2022, when a casting that housed a transverse spring below the cab floor shattered resulting in a complete rebuild of the rear of the locomotive.

813 was appearing as NCB number 11.

GWR 4930 Hagley Hall and LMS mogul 13268 were in operation on the overnight trains on Friday and Saturday night into Sunday morning.

A class 101 DMU was also in operation.

Unfortunately on the Friday, a track circuit failure at Kidderminster, dodgy points at Bewdley and problems with the DMU resulted in the timetable being chucked down the sink.

The first overnight train at 23.10 from Bridgnorth to Kidderminster departed 70 minutes late.
