Launch of the Inclusive Disaster Risk Management DRM and Gender Equality Knowledge Silo Breaker

Описание: Promoting inclusive development programming is directly responsive to the World Bank’s twin goals of ending extreme poverty and promoting shared prosperity with sustainability. Inclusive Disaster Risk Management (DRM) is about promoting opportunities, abilities, and dignity among marginalized groups and in all aspects and stages of the DRM cycle. While sometimes difficult to assess and quantify, failure to address the underlying patterns driving disaster vulnerability is likely to bear enormous social and economic costs.

The objective of relaunching the Knowledge Silo Breaker (KSB) is to curate and co-construct knowledge and collaborate in problem solving to support the mainstreaming of inclusion in disaster risk management operations and analytics. It will also provide a platform to raise concerns and challenges, brainstorm on effective strategies, and support peer-to-peer learning. The KSB will also fulfill the overarching goal of increasing meaningful engagement and dialogue among staff across Global Practices, in addition to other development partners, on the opportunities and challenges in inclusive DRM and gender equality.

ABOUT THE GLOBAL FACILITY FOR DISASTER REDUCTION AND RECOVERY (GFDRR) is a global partnership that helps low- and lower-middle-income countries better understand and reduce their vulnerabilities to natural hazards and adapt to climate change.
