Two pacific steam locos in Crewe station within half an hour, days before Network rail put a ban on steam for next week at least, due to the very dry weather.
First seen is 6233 Duchess of Sutherland with The Cheshireman Railtour, London euston to Chester, arriving andeparting Crewe.
Later in the afternoon 35018 British India Line arrives at Crewe, then reverses down the Chester line and onto Crewe Heritage Centre,ready t haul the North Wales Coast Express tomorrow. Less than half an hour later The Duchess returns! Unable to get into platform 12, because of a Pendolino, goes down platform 6, then later reverses into 12, before leaving for London.
UPDATE*
. Unfortunately 6233, started a lineside fire, before she got to Stafford, and was taken off at Nuneaton. After which Network Rail brought the ban forward, thus banning steam from tomorrow's 2 tours.
