A video compilation of 6201 Princess Elizabeth hard at work on the mainline spanning an eight year period. The future for this famous locomotive is less than rosy with Lizzie currently out of action due to a defect around the throat plate area of the firebox. The society have requested a boiler inspection to determine the problem, and they have requested that all cladding be removed from the boiler and firebox and that the superheater header should be removed to enable proper examination of the front tube plate too. To undertake this inspection work and subsequent repairs, the 6201 society are in need of £165,000 to complete the all inspections and work that is deemed necessary.
Currently as it stands the 6201 society are a long way off where they need to be and the best outcome would be that a rich benefactor can come in and takeover the reigns but its unlikely the society would want to relinquish their ownership of locomotive. Until the above issues are dealt with, we'll have to make do with videos such as these. I hope you enjoy a look back at some our shots of a National Treasure !
