In this video, I create a charcoal portrait study on grey toned paper, focusing on value control using both black and white charcoal.
This timelapse was drawn using the grid method, with standard charcoal pencils for the shadows and white charcoal for the highlights. The aim was to explore how mid-tone paper affects contrast, light placement, and overall balance.
This was a short study to get a feel for the materials and understand how grey paper changes the drawing process compared to white paper.
