This video was filmed June 22, 2022 around 2pm.
This was a very narrow street I was standing on and even the sidewalk was narrow. It was so narrow that I had to stand in the street a little bit just to get this signal right next to me so it's not a good view but it was the best I could get.
This is an old railroad crossing that's been used even before trolleys started coming through here in 1991. Before 1991, freight trains only came by here to go to El Cajon and serve other companies along the way too. Today, orange line trolleys use this crossing every day every 15 to 30 minutes and freight trains were using this crossing too during this time, but it was only in the middle of the night once every 2 to 4 weeks.
The railroad signals themselves are pretty old but with upgrades over time. When they were new, it was all incandescent flashing lights with two mechanical bells, today, it's all LED retrofit lights with two old electronic bells.
Here is my video of this railroad crossing in action on the other side of the tracks.
