Описание: In this week’s Singapore Hawker Food, the SmallCityIsland duo was at Marsiling Mall Hawker Centre to find the winner halal hawker food there. Marsiling Mall Hawker Centre houses 90 hawker stalls many coming from the closed Woodland Town Centre hawker Centre which serves up good old variety of hawker food. This Hawker Centre is located a stones throw away from both the busy Marsiling and Woodlands MRT stations which makes it very convenient to get to.

So if you’re in the Woodlands or Marsiling area and in search of a lunch spot, we suggest dropping by Marsiling Mall Hawker Centre for the many variey of Singapore Hawker Food.

01 #01-43 Bhai’s Chapati & Biryani: Chapati and Kheema ($6.90)

This hawker is a legend and has one of the best chapati in Woodlands. They originated from old woodlands interchange which has been demolished. Looked for them for years and found him at Marsiling Mall. You should try this chapati and kheema. The uncle who mans Bhai’s Chapati & Biryani is so friendly. This to me is definitely a must eat in Marsiling Mall Hawker Centre.


02 #01-44 Beef King by Yassin Kampung: Beef Noodle Soup ($6.00)

If you prefer beef on your noodles, then Beef King by Yassin Kampung should be your go-to. It is an extension of the ever-popular Yassin Kampung franchise, which is known for its Malay and Chinese fusion dishes. This however focuses solely on noodles.


03 #01-37 Mel’s Western: Chicken Chop ($7.50)

Mel’s Western does western food hawker style. We had the Chicken Chop which I believe is a classic favourite at a western food stall in a hawker centre. The stall had a long queue during the lunch hours which seems to be a favourite among diners looking for hawker food for lunch.

A hawker in the Singapore context is someone who sells street food and now known as hawker food. In the old days, this was from a roadside stall or a pushcart. These days, hawkers can be found in coffee shops, hawker centres, and food courts (air-conditioned hawker centres). Hawkers usually specialise in a particular cuisine, sometimes in just one dish.

You can find hawker centres and food courts everywhere, including downtown whereas coffee shops tend to be located in the suburbs.
