What Every Assessor Should Know About Generative Artificial Intelligence - September 26, 2024
Generative artificial intelligence has captivated the imagination of both assessors and trainees, prompting us to ask: are we on the brink of a revolution in what and how we assess? Drawing on a growing body of literature, we will explore three postulates: (1) medical educators will need to reconsider assessment constructs in a generative AI era; (2) with the right prompting, generative AI can outperform the median of any group; (3) generative AI will be an indispensable tool for medical education assessment. But let’s be honest, if AI starts acing exams, we might need a new way to distinguish students… perhaps a bake-off?
