Visiting GREDING near the Altmuel Valley. (Germany). A town with a quite feeling and more.

Описание: Welcome to a new video of a town in the Franconian Alb and not far away of the known Altmuel Valley. Today we visit the best places to see by a trip at Greding in form of a walking tour. Find out more in my video what is like to spend time in a town which is for the most of the people known from the highway but not in form of a stay.


The Trip into Greding:
I visited the town Greding on a sunny day in late summertime 2024. Personally I've been more times in my life there and I like the town. At first I went by foot to the marking place which also is the only place of the entire town. The major house and the Greding castle give me a light positive feeling and the motivation to see more of Greding. At next I visited the romansqure Saint Martins church. This church also is known as the landsmark of the town. I was the only person which had visited the church. After the stay inside the Saint Martins church I went to the ossuary which is known for the region. Every time when I see the heads and boons I get a serius feeling.
My next place at Greding was the historic city wall. From this place on I took the way back to my car. Before I left the region of the Altmuel walley I made a break at a mountain called "Schellenberg". The region was like on my last trips more an rentable.


About Greding:
The town is located at the highway A9 which cross Germany from Berlin to Munich. The town is for many people a kind of hiking place because the town is only a few kilometers far away from the Altmuel Walley which is famouns for the whole region called Franconian Alb. Greding has a own castle, a tourist information, a major house in barroc architectur both a fountain which make the marking place to a lowly feeling to see. At the hill there is the romosqure Saint Martins Church in protestant own and the landmark of the town. A trip to Greding is good to combine with other small towns like Kipfenberg, Eichstätt or Berching.


The Saint Martins church and its ossuary:
The history of the church begun in the 11th century with the tower. The foundation of the tower is the oldest part. One century later in 1158 were also the consecration was happened. In the 15th century the altar and main ship got its frescos which shows the lord Jesu Christ over the altar, the Maria Magdalena and the writer of the famous Gospel of John. At the south side are two tableau which shows at first the visitation of the Mariens of Christophorus from 1370 and the proclamation of the lord Jesu Christ.
Under the Michaels chapel are built a ossuary. According to historic description the chapel was built in the 12th century. Boons and heads of death people were brought to the 18th century under the chapel. The ossuary is one of the third receive rest places for boons of the federal state Bavaria.
