In today’s episode of Cooking with JoJo Napoli, JoJo recreates a recipe passed down from his Sicilian Nonna — a bright, fragrant, moist Sicilian Orange Cake (Pan d’Arancia) that uses whole fresh oranges for maximum flavor.

🍊 SICILIAN ORANGE CAKE RECIPE (NONNA STYLE)
Authentic recipe — moist, fragrant, simple.
Ingredients
2 medium oranges (seedless preferred)
4 large eggs
1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
1 cup (240ml) vegetable oil (or light olive oil)
1 cups (240g) all-purpose flour
1/4 cup plain bread crumbs
1 tbsp baking powder
1 cinnamon stick
2 whole cloves
Optional: powdered sugar for dusting
Glaze:
1/2 cup granulated sugar
Juice of 2 oranges and 1 lemon
Instructions
Prep the Oranges and Lemon
Wash thoroughly.
Remove any seeds.
Zest the oranges and Lemon completely
Juice the oranges and the lemons.
To Make the Batter
In a mixing bowl, beat the eggs and sugar until pale and creamy.
Add the oil and mix until combined.
In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
Add dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and gently mix until smooth.
Bake
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan or bundt pan.
Pour batter in and bake for 45–55 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Finish
Add an additional 1/2 cup of sugar, the juice from the oranges and lemon in a small saucepan with 1 cinnamon stick and 2 whole cloves.
Heat on med/low temp to make a syrup glaze.
While it cools on a rack but still warm...
Drizzle with orange glaze.
Serve
Enjoy with espresso, cappuccino, or after Sunday dinner — just like Nonna!
