Unveiling Siang takes viewers into the remote Siang Valley, where life unfolds along the river and deep within forests far from towns and transport. Isolated villages depend on the forest for food, practising wet rice and jhum cultivation, and sustaining themselves through generations of traditional ecological knowledge.

Rich in biodiversity and wild bio-resources, the Siang Valley is under increasing threat. With only 7% of its forests protected and nearly 40% of forest cover already lost, unprotected areas face growing pressure from market demand and extraction.

The film documents the 2023 launch of the ATREE Siang Project, which works with local communities and the Forest Department to protect forests beyond protected areas and strengthen conservation efforts. Unveiling Siang is a story of people, forests, and the urgent need to safeguard a fragile landscape.

Green Hub Project is a video fellowship that empowers and engages youth especially from indigenous and marginalized communities and disadvantaged backgrounds in conservation action and social change.
