In today’s Road to 50 update, I’m sharing exactly where I’m at 10 weeks into my 12-week fat loss phase as I prepare for my 50th birthday on January 28.
If you’re new here, Road to 50 is a series where I’ve documented every phase of my transformation, including a strategic muscle-building phase where I intentionally gained weight, followed by a controlled, sustainable fat loss phase. No extremes. No shortcuts. Just real data, real strategy, and real mindset work.
In this episode, I walk you through:
• My current weight range and waist measurements
• Why the scale has been noisy lately (and what that actually means)
• Calories, protein, steps, training performance, and recovery
• How I’m maintaining strength in a calorie deficit
• Why scale fluctuations are mostly glycogen, sodium, and inflammation, not fat
• The mental shifts that happen late in a fat loss phase
But more importantly, we talk about the dark side of fat loss on social media.
As I transitioned from a build into a cut, I noticed a major shift in the feedback I was receiving. In this video, I open up about:
• The unexpected pushback, criticism, and negativity that fat loss can trigger
• Why weight loss challenges identity and belief systems
• Why it often feels safer to believe fat loss after 40 or menopause is “impossible”
• How limiting beliefs act like a wall that protects you but also imprisons you
• Why the hate is rarely about the person losing weight and almost always about belief
My goal with this series has never been perfection.
It’s to show what’s possible at any age or stage when you commit, believe, and execute a sustainable strategy.
