In Progressing Ballet Technique, we focus on developing the deep stabilising muscles that prevent students from locking back into hyperextended knees. By strengthening the gluteus medius and deep external rotators, we guide the student to find lift and support through the back of the leg — not collapse into joints.
🦵 The hamstrings support the knee from behind, while the core and pelvic stabilizers, especially the lower abdominals, maintain correct pelvic alignment.
Through non–weight–bearing, targeted exercises, students learn to feel the length through the back line of the legs — improving proprioception 🧠 and placement without pushing into hyperextension.
