Описание: Hello to my lovely friends!!! 👩🏼💖👗 LONG TIME NO SEE!!! 💗 I bet you guys were starting to think I would never return to the channel! It goes without saying that the past few months of my life have been CRAZY - just so much NEW happening ALL THE TIME! I wrapped 4 film projects, traveled, got in my first relationship in almost 5 years, & so much more. Needless to say, it's been a blast and I only have more amazing things to look forward to through the end of this year ✨ But I couldn't shake this feeling that something was MISSING - and lo and behold, it was uploading on the channel! I love this channel so much as it gave me a starting block to do what I love when I want and it has led to so much joy and opportunity that I could never abandon or take it for granted. In other words, I'm not ME without this channel and in turn, without YOU GUYS!! ❤️

Alright - now onto the video at hand. It goes without saying that Barbie was quite possibly the most anticipated movie of the year. When I heard that Greta Gerwig was directing, my ticket instantly bought itself. I was lucky enough to be able to participate in the infamous BARBENHEIMER challenge where you saw both films on the same day and let me tell you it was a RIDE!!! My girlfriend and I dressed up for both showings and genuinely had an amazing day 💕💖

But let's talk Barbie 💗 There's so much I like about this movie but also a handful of things I don't. Overall, I think it's a technical feat in terms of production and costume design as they were able to create a truly immersive Barbie Land experience. I think the film has a lot to say but sometimes gets a little lost in its own fluff to the point that some of the sharper notes of the message feel monotone. This film as a whole didn't hit me as deeply as I anticipated but I didn't leave the theater upset in any way. I think I expected the plot to move in a different direction than it did and my own expectations threw off my perception of what was being presented to me. Overall, I think the film looked great and had many redeeming qualities and I can almost guarantee I would like it more on a rewatch 💓

In this scene, Gloria laments about the impossible navigation of being a woman in a patriarchal society. She speaks about the unrealistic expectation of women to always be beautiful, full of grace, and above all else, grateful. Barbie dolls have long been accused of promoting such unattainable standards when at their core they are meant to empower women. This raises the point of how the male gaze rots feminism and turns women against each other. Although a little heavy handed at points, I think this monologue has a lot to unpack and I think America Ferrara gave a lovely performance.

Overall, I had a good time with this movie and am absolutely thrilled at its commercial success as well as how much it has impacted young women and girls 👏 I think this film explores many important topics and sympathies with both men and women - not villainizing one or the other.

It is literally impossible to be a woman. You are so beautiful, and so smart, and it kills me that you don't think you're good enough. Like, we have to always be extraordinary, but somehow we're always doing it wrong. You have to be thin, but not too thin. And you can never say you want to be thin. You have to say you want to be healthy, but also you have to be thin. You have to have money, but you can't ask for money because that's crass. You have to be a boss, but you can't be mean. You have to lead, but you can't squash other people's ideas. You're supposed to love being a mother, but don't talk about your kids all the damn time. You have to be a career woman but also always be looking out for other people. You have to answer for men's bad behavior, which is insane, but if you point that out, you're accused of complaining. You're supposed to stay pretty for men, but not so pretty that you tempt them too much or that you threaten other women because you're supposed to be a part of the sisterhood. But always stand out and always be grateful. But never forget that the system is rigged. So find a way to acknowledge that but also always be grateful. You have to never get old, never be rude, never show off, never be selfish, never fall down, never fail, never show fear, never get out of line. It's too hard! It's too contradictory and nobody gives you a medal or says thank you! And it turns out in fact that not only are you doing everything wrong, but also everything is your fault.I'm just so tired of watching myself and every single other woman tie herself into knots so that people will like us. And if all of that is also true for a doll just representing women, then I don't even know.
