Amid the ongoing LPG crisis caused by the West Asia conflict, India's public sector oil marketing companies (OMCs) – IOCL, BPCL, and HPCL – issued a joint statement today, March 12, 2026. To ensure uninterrupted supply for households, the government has ordered refineries to boost domestic LPG production by 25%. A major demand-management measure has been introduced, increasing the minimum gap between LPG cylinder bookings from 21 days to 25 days to prevent hoarding and black marketing. While domestic supply is prioritized, commercial gas for restaurants and hotels will be strictly rationalized by a special committee.
