Описание: In this fifth episode of the international student series, we'll talk about student jobs in the Netherlands, the restrictions and present some helpful tips.

Working as a student in the Netherlands is allowed for international students from the EU, EEA, or Switzerland. For non-EU students, there are some restrictions to keep in mind.

There are lots of types of job agencies that offer jobs for international students in the Netherlands. They can help you find a job or a part-time job here in Breda. You can also Google ’Uitzendbureau Breda’, and you will find several job agencies. Breda University of Applied Sciences also publishes job opportunities on the student portal.

If you want to work in the Netherlands, you will need a BSN number, which is a citizen service number or tax and social insurance number, and you can get that at the municipality when you register there for tax purposes.

There are some restrictions for non-EU students. You need a work permit if you're from outside of the EU, EEA, or Switzerland. Your employer needs to apply for this for you. It's not that complicated, but your employer needs to be willing to make the extra effort for you. Your employer probably knows how to apply for this work permit; make sure they do so on time because it takes three weeks for the permit to be issued.

You can work up to 16 hours a week or three months full-time during the summer holidays, which means June, July and August.

Tips:
• EEA students who work at least 56 hours a month can apply for DUO or the Dutch student grant.
• Students who have a part-time job can apply for tax refunds.
• If you work part-time in the Netherlands and have health insurance, you can apply for ‘zorgtoeslag’, a healthcare allowance.
