Wynton Marsalis' Violin Concerto is a highlight of his compositional vision to bridge the gap between jazz and classical realms. Finding the "common musical ground between differing arts and musical styles has been a lifetime fascination of mine," Marsalis notes.
These connections were certainly heard when Kelly Hall-Tompkins, the Chineke! Orchestra, and Leslie Suganandarajah performed the Concerto on 3 September at Lucerne Festival – an inspiring celebration of black creativity!
