When Igor Stravinsky's "Sacre du printemps" premiered in 1913, it marked an awakening for many of those present and for subsequent listeners. To this day, the work with its archaic melodies and rhythms from Russian folk music, still manages to captivate audiences.
The Lucerne Festival Contemporary Orchestra and Susanna Mälkki performed the "Sacre" to mark the conclusion of the Lucerne Festival Academy 2023 – going out with a bang, so to speak.
