***Please note: This talk was given in May of 2015, prior to Caitlyn Jenner coming out as Caitlyn and using she/her/hers pronouns. Beginning in June of 2015, Caitlyn no longer is referred to by her prior name and/or past pronouns.
Reflecting on her personal experience as a member of the LGBTQ athletic community, Anna Aagenes explores the stereotypes surrounding women and LGBTQ athletes and what we can - and should - do to challenge them and better support these athletes.
Anna Aagenes is currently the Vice President of Program Development and Community Relations for You Can Play. Previously, she served as the co-founder and Executive Director of GO! (Generation Out) Athletes, the first national network dedicated to supporting and empowering LGBTQ student athletes. Anna also served as the Deputy Chief of Staff for PA State Representative Brian Sims.
During college, Anna competed as a NCAA Division I Women's Track & Field athlete for the University of Pennsylvania.
