A ventilator is a medical device which helps the lungs work. It is also called a breathing machine. A ventilator blows air into the lungs and removes carbon dioxide out of the lungs. A ventilator may be needed for a few hours, weeks or months. Sometimes, a ventilator may be needed for the rest of the person’s life.
Ventilators can be used with either invasive or non-invasive interfaces. Invasive means the person breathes through an endotracheal tube or tracheostomy tube. Non-invasive means the person breathes through a mask which can be removed. There are three basic types of ventilators. There are called CPAP, BiPAP and mechanical ventilator. #lifewithavent #ventilator #tracheostomy
