Return with us to those wonderful days when 16mm films told us all we needed to know about milk, good health, and behaving like decent human beings!
SLEEP FOR HEALTH (1950): David is happy. At night he dreams about flying in a tiny plane and ends up chipper all day long. His friend George doesn’t get enough sleep and is miserable during the day. Who do you want to be?
FUNDAMENTALS OF DIET (1943): Learn all about carnivores, herbivores, and omnivores! Fats give you energy so eat lots of them! And check out that delicious slab of raw liver, yum, yum!
HOW PLANTS HELP US (1947): Centron presents this loving tribute to plants. See seeds grow, and learn all about photosynthesis. Plants rock!
JUDY LEARNS ABOUT MILK (1948): Boy oh boy! Little Judy visits Uncle George's farm and meets Florabelle, a beloved bovine. She discovers that cows are simply fascinating – they eat grass and produce milk! Best of all, Judy gets to actually milk Florabelle. Wow. Wouldn’t you like a cow of your own?
PLAY IN THE SNOW (1945): Father Winter has spread a blanket of snow but, apparently, some youngsters are a little dim and need to be told how to deal with it. All the basics are here: like dressing for the cold weather, how to make a snowman, sledding, and, for the more advanced tykes, even skiing!
YOUR TABLE MANNERS (1955): Another Centron presentation. This one features Jane and Jimmy, siblings who are eager to spend some quality time with their busy dad, who they usually only see at suppertime. So what better way to do this than by having The Best Dinner Ever! They begin by making a looooong list of excellent table manners (in perfect penmanship, of course), and by following the list to the letter. Daddy is very impressed with their good behavior and makes them read and check off all the items they did well. Yes, indeed, we see years of therapy in these kids’ futures….
MILK (1956): As if you didn't learn enough about milk yet, here's another homage to nature's most wonderful and versatile liquid. Moooooooooo!
UNCLE JIM'S DAIRY FARM: Handsome Uncle Jim recruits impressionable young'uns to help him around the farm. They tend to cows, pigs, and chickens and learn how milk is processed and bottled. Big fun, yes?
FINGER PAINTING: Junior Picassos strut their stuff in this introduction to the most unappreciated of the Fine Arts.
LEARNING ABOUT YOUR NOSE (1956): In case you didn't know, the nose is a guardian of our health. Judy gets colds easily, goes to the doctor, and learns all about her snout. For some odd reason, the doc asks her to take off her shoes during the examination.
SOAPY THE GERM FIGHTER: We saved the best for last! Dirty little Billy is awakened at night by Soapy, a Giant Anthropomorphic Bar of Soap! Soapy tells Billy all about germs and Billy quickly becomes the “cleanest and nicest boy in town”! So always wash your freakin’ hands, kids! Soapy commands you!
