Many Christians instinctively frame the gospel as a solution to guilt and moral failure. Scripture, however, tells a much larger story. Genesis 1–11 presents a threefold diagnosis of the human condition: death enters through exile from God’s presence, depravity becomes entrenched and systemic, and humanity is divided into hostile nations. This article argues that the gospel of Jesus Christ directly answers each of these crises. Christ defeats death through resurrection, heals corruption through the gift of the Spirit, and reunites the nations through his kingship and mission. When read this way, difficult passages like Genesis 6 are not distractions or speculative side notes—they are essential to understanding why the gospel must be as sweeping as the Bible claims it is.
