STORYLINE:

UN chemical and biological weapons inspectors searched a dairy products factory at Abu Graeb 30 kilometres (18 miles) southwest of Baghdad on Saturday. The search was said to have proceeded normally.

Another team of inspectors searched the Al-Razi industrial research centre at Abu Graeb, where they supervised the burning of chemicals.

Meanwhile a peace delegation from Egypt, comprising of 50 artists, writers and intellectuals on a solidarity visit to Iraq demonstrated in Baghdad on Saturday.

Sporting a banner which read "Together Against American Aggression", the group walked through the grounds of Baghdad University chanting anti-US slogans.

Another peace delegation from Germany was in Baghdad on Saturday to show solidarity with the Iraqi people and leadership.

They held a news conference at Baghdad's Alsafeer Hotel where delegation head Buren Kalka demanded that the German government immediately prohibit the use of military bases and flying corridors in Germany to the United States and Great Britain.

There were further expressions of solidarity on Saturday from a German beauty pageant winner, Alexsandra Vodjanikova. The current "Miss Germany 2003" visited a hospital and a school in Baghdad.

At the hospital she said she had seen terrible illnesses which could be easily remedied, and that she would call for donations from Germany.
