Описание: The Basin Trail is part of the “Dells” or the Granite Dells system of trails. More specifically the Willow Dells Trails. The Granite Dells consists of three Dells areas; The Constellation Trails, The Willow Dells, and the Lakeshore/Storm trails. Prior to the Constellation and Lakeshore/Storm trails, when you said the “Dells” it was the Willow Dells area. There’s $3 parking (Fee waived every Wed) at the west trailhead/Willow Creek Boat Ramp: 34.610229, -112.439317 (GPS). Or you can park by the Willow Creek Dog Park and ride over to the trail: 34.610229, -112.439317 (GPS).
As always; I ride the ENTIRE Basin trail out and back. Basin Trail probably can be defined as connector trail. A trail used to get to other Willow Dells trails. That said it has its features that are in the typical Dell’s fashion. It connects with the Canyon trail at both ends and the ecosa trail right in the middle. It is approximately 3/8 of a mile and has a difficulty rating of black. In this video I included footage of my goMTB alternate line ( 7:44 ). I did some needed clearing for this alternate line. Hiking it was impossible, let alone riding it. There was decades of overgrowth. Clearing this out had to be done to make it ridable and to hike it. After a couple weeks of clearing, it is now ridable and ready for others to take credit for it. This goMTB alternate is a fun, but short challenge with the highlight being the spine. FYI: This short spine will likely have some consequence for failure.

The Granite Dells consists of three Dells areas; The Constellation Trails, The Willow Dells, and the Lakeshore/Storm trails. The Dells will test your strength, fitness, and courage (stalling/falling) on the climbs. It will also test your nerve doing some of the bigger drops and rollers for the first time. A great place to test yourself in all aspects of riding. Prior to the Constellation and Lakeshore/Storm trails, when you said the “Dells” it was the Willow Dells area. I remember years and years ago bringing a Leatherman to clear the overgrowth just to ride in and around Canyon Trail. As with all my trail videos, it is my intent to first document and character ride each trail as mapped the best I can. It’s no different here at the Willow Dells. With these videos I’m not saying these are the best lines, the worst lines, or the only lines. Just the lines that were on the mapped trail or just off it for the most part. My rule of thumb was if a line was with the flow/direction of the mapped trail I went for it. I will likely do an alternate line video sometime in the future.

A statement on my videos. I’m mostly referring to the Dell’s trails, but this can apply to all the trails. I understand that everybody is different and that each has their own riding “style.” And that each individual has a separate definition of what’s fun and what’s challenging. I’m no different. For me, what’s fun and challenging is to clean as much or all of the features of each trail all at once if possible. To me, this method is much more gratifying versus hammering and punching each feature one at a time or riding downhill only (where applicable).
