Описание: In this video, I cover how to use resources in arena. Resources are generally things used in a process and can be configured to have failures, do scheduling, and can be animated to tell what's going on. After watching this video, should should have a better idea how you can use resources in your own simulations.

This data module defines the resources in the simulation system, including costing information and resource availability. Resources may have a fixed capacity that does not vary over the simulation run or may operate based on a schedule. Resource failures and states can also be defined in this module.

Resources which are listed as members of a resource set in the Set spreadsheet are automatically added to the Resource spreadsheet with default values. These defaults may be altered by editing the Resource spreadsheet.

When a resource’s availability is based on a schedule, the schedule name specified is automatically added to the Schedule spreadsheet. The Schedule module must be edited by entering value and duration information for the resource to be used. The simulation model will run if the default schedule is not edited. However, the capacity of the resource will be assumed to be zero. This can be graphically identified in a model by seeing the process WIP accumulate when using a resource with a blank schedule. The schedule must be a Capacity type of schedule.

If a failure or a stateset name is specified and not defined in the Data Definition panel, an "Undefined Identifier" error will occur. Refer to the Failure module and Stateset module for further information.

If a schedule or failure is specified and a capacity change (decrease) is to occur when a resource is currently busy, the Schedule Rule/Failure Rule is used to determine when the capacity change will take place.

Ignore— starts the time duration of the schedule change or failure immediately, but allows the busy resource to finish processing the current entity before effecting the capacity change.

Wait— waits until the busy resource has finished processing the current entity before changing the resource capacity or starting the failure and starting the time duration of the schedule change/failure.

Preempt— interrupts the currently-processing entity, changes the resource capacity and starts the time duration of the schedule change or failure immediately. The resource will resume processing the preempted entity as soon as the resource becomes available (after schedule change/failure).

Count-based failures occur after the resource has been released the number of times specified.

If additional failures occur while a failure is in progress, they will be acted on consecutively in the order they occurred (i.e., the second failure will have its full duration, starting immediately after the first failure ends).

When an Arena model (i.e., .doe file) is run, the simulation results are stored in a Microsoft Access database (.accdb) file by the same name (e.g., the simulation results for Banking.doe are stored in Banking.accdb). If statistics collection for all resources is enabled in the Run/Setup/Project Parameters dialog box AND Report Statistics is "Yes" for an individual resource module, then Arena will automatically create, collect, and report statistics for that resource.
