Transcript: I’m Father Dominic with another baking secret from the Bread Monk. Okay, so you have a really strong craving for banana bread or banana nut muffins, but all of your bananas are brand new and yellow. You need really ripe bananas, and you don’t wanna wait while yours turn dark on the counter, so what do you do? To ripen bananas in the oven, place them on a heavy baking sheet and bake them in a preheated oven at 300 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes, and they turn deeply black and then they’re soft to the touch. The baking process will also develop the sugars and enhance the banana flavor. Now, if you find that your raisins or chopped nuts tend to sink to the bottom of banana muffins or cakes, there’s a hack for that, too. Toss them in flour until they’re very lightly coated on all sides, and then add them at the very end of the mixing process. Then they’ll stay in place. I’m Father Dominic, the Bread Monk.
