Transcript: I’m Father Dominic with another baking secret from the Bread Monk. When I wanna make some really fancy dinner rolls for a special occasion, I make rose rolls. They are no more difficult than making cinnamon rolls, but make you look like a professional pastry chef and really make a dramatic presentation on the table. You can use any basic roll dough. So I’ve rolled the dough out here to about 12 by 14. I brush the top of the dough with plain melted butter, much like you might do for cinnamon rolls but without the cinnamon and sugar. Roll the dough up like a jelly roll, just like for cinnamon rolls. And then use a sharp knife to cut it into 12 even slices. Then I place the slices in a lightly greased muffin tin. And lastly, take a sharp pair of scissors and cut an X in the top of each one, about 1/2 to 2/3 of the way through. Cover and let rise for about a half an hour to 45 minutes, and then bake in the oven at 375 for 10 to 12 minutes. They will uncurl and open up and turn into beautiful roses.
