[TRIP REPORT] Limited Express Sunrise Izumo From Izumoshi To Tokyo In Single Room By JR 285 Series

Описание: The Limited Express Sunrise Izumo and Sunrise Seto are the only night trains left in Japan since 2016. The Sunrise Izumo connects Izumo and Matsue in the Shimane Prefecture with Tokyo, while the Sunrise Seto connects Takamatsu on the island of Shikoku with Tokyo. Both trains combine and split up at Okayama station.

The Japanese night train feature a few accomodation classes where you can choose from. The Nobinobi seats are just a place where you can lay down to sleep and are free to reserve with your Japan Railpass. Next up is the Solo Room where you get a better bed in a very small capsule like room. The Single Room is the following category where you'll have the same bed as the Solo Room, but the room itself is a tiny bit roomier and there is place to store a large suitcase.

Then follows the Single Twin Room, which sounds very contradicting, but it is basically a bunk bed room for 2 people. Then there is the Sunrise Twin Room where both of you can sleep in a bigger room that actually fits two beds. Final and most expensive option is the Single Deluxe Room, featuring a single bed in aan room with a large desk.

In order to book this train you can do so only 30 days in advance at the earliest. You can either book it at a JR station or online via JR Odekake Net, but do remember you'll have to pick them up at a ticket office or ticket machine. It may seems to be challenging to get your hands for a spot on this train, but I managed to book a Single Room on the morning of my departure during the low season.
