You already know that Pilates is a movement practice. But have you ever thought of it is a stability practice, too? Yep, every Pilates exercise is made up of 1.) moving body parts and 2.) stabilizing body parts. And they’re equally important. In fact, when you combine both of these components in every exercise, you’ll produce controlled movement (CONTROLogy) vs flailing, gripping or straining just to git ‘er done.
Let's play a game of "I SPY WITH MY LITTLE EYE". Can you identify the moving body parts that should actually be stabilizing?
