Den bonde han ganger sig ud i den skov
Fa-lu-lei ud i den skov
Der så han en krage som sad og sov

Og bonden sat buen alt for sit knæ
så skød han den krage ned ret det træ

Og bonden sat buen for sin fod

Og snakkede om der bud fra bispens gård
Hvad gjorde du med kragen du skød i går?

Af hovedet gjorde jeg kirkeknap
Af næbbet gjorde jeg tøndetap

Af fjerene tækkede jeg hele mit hus
Af hjertet gjorde jeg drikkekrus

Af skroget gjorde jeg et godt skib
Det bedste det ud i fjorden gik

Af tarmene gjorde jeg takkel og reb
Af benene gjorde jeg møgegreb

The Farmer and the Crow

The farmer walked out into the forest
There he saw a crow sitting and sleeping

And the farmer put the bow to his knee
Then he shot the crow right down from the tree

And the farmer put the bow to his foot
Then he shot the crow to the heart’s blood

And there spoke a messenger from the bishop's farm
What did you do with the crow you shot yesterday?

From the head, I made a church button
From the the beak, I made a barrel plug

From the feathers, I thatched my house
From the heart, I made a drinking mug

From the skeleton, I made a good ship
The best that went out in the fjord

From the intestines, I made tackle and rope
From the bones, I made a manure fork.
