This week we've got a classic bluegrass mandolin instrumental from the great Butch Baldassari (1952-2009). Butch was a wonderful mandolin player and made great music with Weary Hearts, the Nashville Mandolin Ensemble, Lonesome Standard Time, and released a number of solo and collaborative albums. "Old Town" comes from the 1990 album of the same name.
The Mandolin Tune of the Week series is something I envisioned to share some of my favorite mandolin tunes, many I'd consider underplayed, and teach them to folks who will hopefully get them out there in the world. From week to week we'll be visiting some great players and their original (or at least signature) tunes. Stop by every Saturday morning for a new tune!
