Kare Pan is a popular Japanese bread filled with rich, savory curry, coated in crispy panko breadcrumbs, and deep-fried to golden perfection. Crunchy on the outside and warm, flavorful on the inside, it’s the perfect combination of comfort food and street-style snack.
RECIPE OF KARE PAN:
Milk: 3/4 cup
Sugar: 2 tablespoons
Instant yeast: 1 teaspoon
Melted butter/oil: 2 tablespoons
All purpose flour: 2 cups
Salt: 1/2 teaspoon
FOR CHICKEN FILLING:
Chicken mince: 250g
Oil: 2 tablespoons
Chopped onion: 1/2 cup
Salt: 1/2 teaspoon
Chilli flakes: 1/4 teaspoon
Red chilli powder: 1/4 teaspoon
Black pepper: 1/4 teaspoon
Chopped capsicum : 1/2 cup
Tomato sauce/ ketchup: 3 tablespoons
Fresh coriander
Mozzarella cheese for filling
Eggs
Panko bread crumbs
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Mix together milk, sugar, instant yeast and melted butter and set aside.
2. Take flour and add salt to it. Now add the wet mixture of milk and yeast and knead into a smooth dough. Place the dough in a greased bowl , cover and set aside for 50-60 minutes.
3. Now make the chicken filling by adding oil to a pan and add chopped onions, add mince and all the spices. Add tomato puree, capsicum and water, cover and let it cook until cooked.
4. Now divide the dough into 6 or 8 portions. Roll out a dough ball in oval shape and keep it thick. Add mozzarella cheese and chicken filling. Now pinch together the sides and seal the edges shaping an oval bun.
5. Now dip in eggs and roll in panko breadcrumbs and let the buns proof for 20 minutes.
6. Fry the kare pan in hot oil over medium flame until golden.
