The Viking was a marketing effort to have a daily fast freight train that moved freight from Omaha and the Union Pacific to the Twin Cities

Chicago & Northwestern transfer run at Dayton's Bluff in St. Paul - Alco Century C-628
These units were purchased used by the Chicago & Northwestern from the Norfolk and Western in very good condition for only $50,000 each. The C&NW ran these units for years.
