Indiana Plein Air Painters Association (IPAPA) would like to present our third and final educational video to our series. Hear from our members, as they share tips to Choosing a Scene and help newcomers get started. Enjoy!
Choosing a Scene
1. Identify the primary focus or idea within your scene
2. Generate a thumbnail sketch that supports your focus
3. Define a simple value structure - lights and darks
4. Use the thumbnail sketch as a guide while you paint
5. Deviate from the scene if it strengthens the design within your painting
6. Strive towards painting what you want to see within your work
Activities are made possible in part by the Indiana Arts Commission, a state agency, the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency., and the Efroymson Family Fund.
