Hello,
I am a specialist in the repair, calibration, and optimization of vintage Straight Line Tracking (SLT) record playing turntables. I have written on internet audio forums as Professor Bizzt, and maintain a presence on Ebay, Webstore, and YouTube.
THE VIDEO CAMERA:
The video camera used for my videos is a Nikon Coolpix L830 with built-in L/R microphones. This camera has no provision for external microphones.
THE DESCRIPTION:
This is another unscripted, unrehearsed, unedited, and imperfect amateur video showing the internal anatomy and carriage friction characteristics of the Sony PS-X800 SLT Biotracer tonearm. Unfortunately scenes where I bring a part close to the lens for a closeup view are out of focus (please see my “Sony PS-X800 Biotracer tonearm anatomy & friction issues part 2” video for clarification). I'm sorry about this, but at least you have a thorough explanation as to what these parts are all about in part 1.
Scenes of the pitch limiting groove of the polished Arm Shaft show what looks like scalloped machine marks. That is not what you are seeing. The polishing operation I did was effective enough to clearly reflect the light from my 96 LED 4 foot long overhead light fixture, hence you are seeing reflections of a multiplicity of LEDs.
In comparison, the unpolished Arm Shaft does not reflect light to anywhere near this level of coherency.
Although this video shows the anatomy of a disassembled PS-X800 tonearm, I in no way advocate disassembling these tonearms! They are extremely tricky to work with and the MFB coils are EXTREMELY delicate and no longer available. PLEASE, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DISASSEMBLE THIS TONEARM!!!
This video and its descriptive text makes known all the information that will be released for the moment, as I protect my intellectual property when necessary. As shown in several of my YouTube videos, I currently offer several other modification services and upgrade parts for SLT turntables.
As in every custom upgrade service I perform or product I design, a holistic approach is always used to insure every facet is engineered to be as sensible, simple, practical, reliable, thoroughly configurable, user upgrade-able, and aesthetically pleasing as I can make it.
ABOUT ME AND MY VIDEOS:
I’m not a charismatic actor and I’m not attempting to entertain anyone. The function of my videos has always been to inform the public of my work, and understanding these videos absolutely requires the viewer to make the effort to read the video’s descriptive text in its entirety.
Leaving abrasive, derogatory, or childish commentary, despite my considerable efforts, ostensibly shows one’s inability to pay attention, devote the necessary time to view my whole video, read the text, or infers mal-intent for some strange unknown reason. Respectful, constructive, substantiated, and technically accurate criticism is always appropriate and beneficial; engaging in groundless conveniently abbreviated potshots from behind some anonymous internet avatar is not.
