How Petra made a Street Food Festival possible with My Effort, My Project | Vebego Foundation

Описание: Petra works at Vebego Cleaning Services, but on Wednesdays she is somewhere else: in the kitchen of Stichting Vorkje Prikken in Maastricht.

Together with a group of volunteers, she cooks a hot meal for local residents every week. 'It's not just about food,“ says Petra. 'It's about connection, about being seen. Some people are alone or don't have the money for a night out. With us, they can just pull up a chair.”

When Petra heard about My Effort, My Project, she knew immediately: this fits in with what we do. She submitted an application and received a contribution from the Vebego Foundation to organise a one-off Street Food Festival. 'You don't normally get to experience something like that. But thanks to the foundation, it was possible. Everyone sat outside, together at the table. People who normally have no contact with each other got talking. That was so valuable.'

Petra hopes her story will inspire other colleagues. “You don't need to have a grand plan. If you do something that energises you and helps others, that's more than enough.”

ABOUT MY COMMITMENT, MY PROJECT

For example, for a sports club, neighbourhood initiative, cultural association or foundation you are involved in. The Vebego Foundation supports your initiative with a contribution of up to €500,-.
