[...] Now, Julie Andrews is almost synonymous with all that is sweet and wholesome, to the unfortunate point where otherwise reasonable members of her public may have considered fling in Satanism to maintain a sense of balance. And the still relatively young performer is beginning to take on a matronly appearance that is distinctly British, suggesting direct blood ties with the inimitably dowdy royal family.

Her special, videotaped for Bob Banner Productions at London Weekend Television, seemed nervously aware of Miss- Andrews's naturally high sugar content, and cleverly managed to dilute matters with guest stars and special material's, She was insulted charmingly by Jim Henson's Muppets. She clowned around in a dance number for the singer Leo Sayers. ‐And, in a long medley of jazz‐type songs, she and Leslie Uggams were squeezed into very sexy gowns that verged on outright naughtiness. The result: a sweet, wholesome, pleasant hour. indeed, but smartly aware of its potential pitfalls. [...]
