They believed they were clever, but they were not as smart as they thought. They believed they could break you, but you were never as fragile as they assumed.
They expected you to endure their mistreatment indefinitely, perhaps even to remain silent about the abuse because it had become a part of your routine. However, you have proven them wrong. You either pushed through the door they opened for you, or you rushed out on your own, driven by a growing intolerance for their constant disrespect.
