During our Conservation Conversation sessions we have seen and heard much about beautiful birds and their habitats. Whilst there are many at BirdLife South Africa who spend time in the field actively monitoring and implementing measures to protect species and ecosystems, there are also those of us who spend many hours at work processing and sharing data, and participating in the development and implementation of guidelines, policies and laws vital for ensuring that our birds remain airborne. In this talk you will hear from four such people on BirdLife South Africa's staff. We will share insights into some of the less visible work that BirdLife South Africa is involved in, the difference these activities make, and the often difficult decisions about how to focus our resources. We also offer some advice on how members and bird lovers can be involved in influencing development proposals and helping to curb activities that pose a threat to birds and their habitats.
