Episode 34: The Bokmakierie (Bird Call Audio)—The Bold Voice of the Fynbos
In this episode of Dawn Chorus, we feature the Bokmakierie, a striking and charismatic bird of open grasslands and fynbos. Known for its rich yellow underparts and bold facial markings, this species is most celebrated for its loud, ringing duet calls — a distinctive “bok-ma-kie-rie” that carries clearly across the landscape at dawn. Its confident, musical phrases add drama and character to the morning chorus.
