Van Der Bellen arrives for Austria inauguration

Описание: (26 Jan 2017) Alexander Van der Bellen has been sworn in as Austria's president, in the last act of a dramatic race for the position won by the left-leaning economics professor over a right-wing populist after a repeat vote.
The latest election was a rerun of a vote in May that Van der Bellen narrowly won against Norbert Hofer.
Austria's Constitutional Court ordered the repeat following a court ruling after Hofer's Freedom Party claimed widespread voting irregularities.
While the presidency is a mostly symbolic post, it had attracted Europe-wide attention as the next possible victory for populists after Donald Trump's presidential win in the United States and the UK's vote to leave the European Union.
Van der Bellen and his wife Doris Schmidauer were greeted by Doris Bures, the president of the National Council and Sonja Ledl-Rossmann, the president of the Federal Assembly, as they entered Parliament for the ceremony.
Hofer, who is one of three presidents of the Austrian parliament, was also present for the swearing in.
