Hello everyone, look what we found again! Sagaminopteron ornatum or known as Batwing slug, a spectacular ocean creature!
Few days ago we decided to dive Cape Schanck/Australia 38°30'12.5"S 144°53'05.2"E. The forecast was questionable and to dive Cape Schank you really need only the best weather, as the dive site is extremely dangerous due high swell and strong currents. However, as soon as we arrived at the car park we instantly felt it, it was going to be pretty good dive and indeed a good dive it was! We found many different species but one cought our attention the Batwing Slug.
Sagaminopteron ornatum or Batwing slug was first found in Sagami Bay, Japan which gives rise to its name Sagaminopteron. It could be also seen around the southern shores of Australia. The name "Batwing slug" is related to its greatly enlarged wing-like parapodia. Unfortunately we know very little about the behavior of this beautiful creature.
