I, Claudius scene reanimated with AI (Episode 6/7: Queen of Heaven)

The background: As Emperor Tiberius continues his reign in Rome, he has become increasingly reliant on his Praetorian Prefect, Sejanus, who ruthlessly pursues power at every turn.

As he seeks to become Tiberius’s colleague in the Senate, Sejanus convinces Tiberius’s nephew Claudius into marrying his sister. While Claudius appears to not see an issue, his sister-in-law, Agrippina, and mother, Antonia Minor, chew him out during dinner with their friend Herod Agrippa, who’s also king of Judea. As Claudius is insulted by his family, Herod ultimately comes to his defense.

I wasn’t planning to upload more AI-animated scenes, but one of my subscribers requested I share it.

How I animated this:

By taking screenshots of the various camera shots throughout the scene, I then used ChatGPT to convert them into anime images. From there, I uploaded them to Grok and gave it command prompts, including dialogue and reactions according to what happened in the scene. Since Grok only makes seven-second-long clips, some dialogue is cut short. From there, I edited the clips in iMovie.

This was actually the first scene I reanimated using AI. The process itself is actually extremely frustrating, as both ChatGPT and Grok produced terrible results multiple times, prompting me to either reproduce the clips and/or specify exactly what I do and do NOT want from the picture and videos, respectively.

Even in this video, there are some effects and actions that I did not ask for. But because it was so frustrating regenerating the same video countless times, in some cases I had to go with the least-terrible product.

I actually have dozens, if not hundreds, of faulty clips or bloopers, that I’ve considered making into a video because they’re hilariously bad.

You’ll also notice at times there’s a distinct difference in image size; this is because I had not yet made the 16:9 image ratio the default product when rendering the pictures. I could crop them out but I honestly don’t feel like putting in the work and have other projects I’m working on.

The best AI-reanimated scene I’ve produced so far is the one from “The Caesars” and by that point I had planned things well in advance, whereas in this case and the previous videos I’ve uploaded they were the result of impromptu generations and editing.
