Did from Chepstow, Wyedean school parking area to just outside the other end of the tunnel.
Did just about half of the route.

We are going to walk part of a new path/ cycleway.

The Wye Valley railway line ran from above Chepstow to Tintern.
In December 2019 a planning application was submitted to extend the proposed Wye Valley Greenway over the A48 as far as Wyedean School.

The route was opened to the public on 1 April 2021, by Nia Parry a pupil from Wyedean School, who opened the gates and turned on the lights to the tunnel.

Nia won a school competition to design the logo for the route.

Tidenham or Dennelhill tunnel was the longest at 1188 yards or 1080m on the Wye Valley Railway between Chepstow and Monmouth, and the 21st longest on the GWR.
It took the WVR from the Wye Valley, southeast of Tintern, to Netherhope, near Tidenham.

The contractors were Messrs Reed Bros. & Co of London, and it took just under 20 months to bore, a remarkably good average of 6 feet per day. The tunnel was cut mainly through Carboniferous limestone, and the portals are surrounded by masonry.

The WVR opened to traffic on 1 November 1876, and finally closed to goods in January 1964.
However, the southern part of the line, including the tunnel, remained in use as a private siding to serve Tintern and Dayhouse quarries. The last train through the tunnel to Tintern Quarry ran in December 1981.

Wye Valley Greenway is now open to the public between Sedbury Lane and the Wireworks Bridge in Tintern.
